Mumbai 4 Boys Arrested For Gangraping 15-year-old Girl in Malad
The Mumbai Police have arrested four school students for allegedly gang raping a girl and posting her video on WhatsApp.
“We took the four boys into custody yesterday and have sent them to Dongri remand home”, Sandbhor said.
A 15-year-old girl was gang raped by her friend and three others over a fortnight ago.
The rape took place on November 8 in northern Mumbai’s Malad (West) neighborhood, but the girl did not tell anyone about it after the accused shot a video of the crime and threatened her of dire consequences.
The boys ensured that none of the family members were at home when the incident happened and recorded the entire incident on their mobile phone. The incident came to light after the survivor’s aunt received a video clip of the incident on WhatsApp. The girl, who hadn’t told anyone about the gang rape, narrated the entire incident to her aunt. She stays with her sister, aunt and grandmother.
The boys had used the same clip to threaten the survivor into silence, but then they shared it with their friends on WhatsApp, after which the video went viral, eventually reaching the girl’s aunt.
The Asian Age report quotes a senior police inspector at the Malad police, Shashank Shabhor as saying, “All the four accused have been detained now and their medical inspection was conducted on Thursday”.
The accused later posted the video of the incident on the internet and some social networking sites, police said.
Police have registered a case under relevant sections of protection of children from sexual offenses (POCSO) act and rape under the Indian Penal code. But on Diwali – November 11 – when her husband went out for night duty, two of his friends – Dhanbahadur Pirva (38) and Karan Bika (30) allegedly raped her.
