Mumbai airport, Taj Hotel on alert after terror threat
The Mumbai airport received a threat call on Monday night following which security was stepped up. After the alert, heavy deployment of police officials was witnessed around Taj Mahal Palace.
“Even now the screening operations are on and the call has not been declared hoax yet”, said Mumbai worldwide Airport Limited (MIAL) spokesperson Veena Chiplunkar around 11 a.m. A spokes person from the airport authorities said that when we receive a threat call naming a specific location, generally we beef up the security at the particular location as per protocol.
As a precautionary measure, bomb squad team has been deployed at all the three places.
The threat comes a day before 12 men convicted for the 7/11 Mumbai serial train blasts are sentenced on Wednesday.
Officials at Taj Hotel, near Gateway of India in South Mumbai – which was one of the prime targets during the 26/11 terror attacks – were not available for their reactions.
