Murad Ali Shah nominated as new Sindh CM
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Tuesday nominated Sindh Finance Minister Murad Ali Shah as successor of outgoing Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah. Interior Minister Ch Nisar Ali Khan has been pleading the Sindh government to take prompt decision in this regard but like a year ago, the Provincial government and top PPP leadership indulged in rhetoric on the issue.
Bilawal Bhutto said he had been scrutinising the performance of the assembly members since January.
Syed Qaim Ali Shah will present his resignation to the Governor Sindh Dr. Ishratul Ebad Khan on Wednesday.
Mr Shah is expected to take the oath of his new office by the end of this week.
Opposition Pakistan People’s Party leader Qaim Ali Shah (C, wearing glasses) is greeted by supporters after he was named as the Chief Minister of southern Sindh province in Karachi March 3, 2008. He vowed to fulfill the expectations of PPP, Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal.
Bilawal eulogized Qaim for standing by the party in hard times. He said the new CM would continue to serve the province in accordance with the guidelines and policies of the chairman of the party.
Brushing aside the impression of rift in the party ranks, he said: “We are all PPP”.
“There is no rift, no heart burning”, he said, adding the new chief minister would complete the work he was leaving behind. He has served the province in different sectors. “I tried my best to serve my people selflessly”, he said after inaugurating the Lincoln Corner at Liaquat Memorial Library on Tuesday.
It always remained my utmost effort to provide maximum job opportunities to the youth of the province.
Waseem Akhtar also expressed the hope that with the appointment of a new Chief Minister, local bodies institutions would finally receive the powers they were due. “This was the legacy of Shaheed Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and the new chief minister would follow it as I did”. After the meeting he also met Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah.
Reportedly, Sindh Senior Minister Murad Ali Shah becomes a top candidate for the post.
However, Murad Ali Shah did not confirm it himself.
It further said that PPP has chose to make organisational changes in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
