Music director Johnson’s daughter found dead

In a traffic incident, Malayalam singer – composer Shan Johnson was found dead in her apartment yesterday.

Police said Shan (29) had come to her flat after completing a recording session and was scheduled to go for another assignment Friday morning. She was a singer as well as a music director. Later, she quit the job and turned to music industry.

Shan is said to be under medication for health issues, and reason for her death is not known yet. Police suspected it a case of suicide but they are waiting for the autopsy report which will confirm the cause of her death. Though she was taken to the hospital, her life could not be saved. The body was found at her apartment at Asok Nagar, Kodambakkam, in Chennai around 11.30 AM. Her mother tried to contact her daughter so many times but she didn’t get any news from Shan. He died of a heart attack in Chennai on 18 August 2011.

She had also composed music for a Malayalam film “His Name is John”.

She had sung songs in Malayalam films, Praise the Lord, Thira and in a couple of Tamil movies. In February, 2012 his son Renn Johnson (23) was killed in a motorbike accident. “It’s for the upcoming Malayalam film “Vettah” starring Kunchacko Boban and Manju Warrier”, wrote Shan while sharing the song on her Facebook page on Thursday evening.
