Music legend David Bowie dies
His ex-wife Angie Bowie, who he divorced in 1980 after 10 years of marriage, is now a contestant in the UK’s Celebrity Big Brother and was not immediately told of her former husband’s death.
Bowie’s 25th studio album, Blackstar, was just released January 8 to critical acclaim.
His hits include Let’s Dance, Space Oddity, Heroes, Under Pressure, Rebel, Rebel, Life on Mars and Suffragette City.
Thus, she wasn’t informed of her ex-husband, David Bowie’s death until hours after the news went public. Her reposts showed a vibrant Bowie at different times in his life and they included some motivational quotes for surviving tough times.
In 2002, when people were still lugging around wallets full of CDs and a year before Apple Inc. would launch its iTunes music store, David Bowie foretold the future in an interview with the New York Times. “It’s got a lot going for it. I’m just floored by the fact that there’s so few black artists featured on it. Why is that?” Here’s a look at five of Bowie’s best moments.
Bowie reportedly told Lorde during that meeting that she “sounded like tomorrow”.
“Following the very sad news of David Bowie’s death this morning, we can confirm that Angie Bowie has been informed [of the news] off-camera”, a rep for Channel 5 confirmed.
“We all knew something was amiss but…I feel as though I’ve lost something, I’ve lost something incredibly important today”.
One of his most famous on-stage incarnations was The Thin White Duke and Bowie remained slim in his later years. Bowie was 69 and had just released a new album decades after coming of age in the 1970s glam rock era.
She said: “I don’t see him (Duncan) at all”. David Bowie was a genius. Bowie is widely quoted (though the attribution is nowhere to be found) as saying: “You would think that a rock star being married to a supermodel would be one of the greatest things in the world”.
