Muslims Worldwide Struggle to Comprehend a Violent Ramadan
Militants killed 44 people at Istanbul’s main airport on June 28.
At least 175 people were killed and almost 200 wounded, while a dozen people remain unaccounted for.
Unfortunately, as with past attacks there, this tragic incident will not receive the same worldwide outrage and condemnation as did New York, Paris and Brussels. A auto bomb exploded on a busy street in the Karrada district late on Saturday. How much longer will mainstream media repeatedly showcase ISIS’s religious identity without fully acknowledging the religious identity of (the vast majority of) their victims?
The level of destruction in Al-Karrada is massive, with the search for the bodies of missing victims ongoing. They demand more and better security measures and an end to the corruption that has eroded public support for al-Abadi’s government.
The Obama administration reacted to the massacre via National Security Council spokesman Ned Price, who said the ISIS campaign against Baghdad would only strengthen US commitment to the Iraqi army in the battle against the Islamic State.
The message from the reading taken from the Muslims’ Holy Quran (Bible), according to President of the Ahmaddiya Muslim Jama’at in Belize, Imam Naveed Mangla is that fasting makes one more righteous, and that the discipline brings one closer to God. A U.S.-coalition, involving several countries, have been carrying out air and ground strikes to fight against ISIS. With a series of suicide bombings, ISIS hit three sites inside Saudi Arabia.
The former minister said those funding and patronising the IS might be present in Saudi Arabia, adding that the recruitment of IS started in Afghanistan and a lot of money was invested on it. Now, he said, this organisation has become lethal and after attacking other prominent cities of the world, it was now targeting Saudi Arabia.
Within a few days ISIL struck again. The city is a major spot in Islam because that’s where the Prophet Mohammed is buried. The assault on the tomb of Mohammad, which was captured on video, led to outrage in the Muslim world and led to condemnations of the United Nations and leaders of Muslim states.
One of the bombers targeted a Shia mosque in Qatif whiles the other detonated his device near the USA consulate in Jeddah.
With ISIS on the back foot in the two Arab states, more of its foreign fighters may return home to mount attacks.
A “lone wolf” had carried out the atrocity with the so-called Islamic State admitting responsibility. The ISIS cell consisted of five young men and a middle-aged woman the state news agency KUNA reported Monday.
ISIS is reportedly trying to assert its strength by spreading attacks all over the world.
An Indonesian official said it was too early to know who was behind the attack.
In part, this ambivalence toward the campaign against ISIS reflects rational fears that an increased profile could increase the likelihood of terrorist attacks.
That would seem to indicate that ISIS is a growing threat.
“ISIS has tens of thousands of individuals that are scattered not just in the Middle East but also to West Africa, to Southeast Asia, and beyond”, declared Brennan. Last March, the group carried out attacks in Brussels, Belgium, killing 30. At the Aspen Ideas Festival, Secretary of State John Kerry said Iran was helpful in the war against ISIS. It is yet uncertain if these claims are factual or have been made for propaganda purposes.
