‘My heart will go on’: Celine Dion’s husband, brother dies of CANCER
According to a statement released by his family, the singer’s brother died on Saturday at Maison Adhémar-Dion, a palliative care center in Terrebonne, Quebec after battling with cancer.
Daniel died in the early hours of Saturday morning in the family’s native Montreal, reports aceshowbiz.com.
His death was announced just two days after the death in suburban Las Vegas of the 73-year-old Angelil after a long battle with throat cancer.
The Dion family describes their brother as a person that was a “gentle and reserved man of many talents”.
Daniel is one of Dion’s 13 siblings.
Celine Dion is definitely at the peak of her emotions this week after the passing of her husband, Rene Angélil, on Thursday. His funeral will take place later this month at St-Simon-et-Jude in Quebec, where the Dion children were raised. The devastating news came amid Dion’s funeral preparations for her husband.
Dion has three sons with Angelil, Rene Charles, 14, and twin brothers Eddy and Nelson, five. He died in Las Vegas where Celine has been headlining at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
Angelil was her manager for decades and was constantly seen by her side.
Angelil stepped down as Dion’s manager in 2014, turning her career over to a friend of the couple but he remained involved in business decisions. Following Angelil’s death, Dion cancelled two previously scheduled performances there that had been set for this weekend.
