“My lifelong goal and dream:” Alabama running back Derrick Henry wins 2015
The 2015 Alabama team helped me do this.
Mayfield felt like the biggest snub for a spot in NY this season. Georgia knows how effective Chubb can be when healthy; he showed his potential when he ran for 1,547 yards and 14 touchdowns as a true freshman in 2014.
And he spliced in another highlight on his reel.
Michigan State has shut down some of the top run games in the nation, holding the Big Ten’s top three rushing attacks under 100 yards, most recently Iowa in the Big Ten championship game. He is just the fourth player in college football history win all four awards in the same season and the first since Ron Dayne accomplished the feat at Wisconsin in 1999.
And the Heisman victor was not done, thanking his Alabama teammates, his strength coach and his running backs coach Burton Burns, saying, “I’m so proud to call you my coach”.
The University of Alabama’s 6ft 242-pound running back has won this year’s Heisman Trophy. With that, Henry won the award, with many citing that his success came again the tough teams he faced within his conference.
Derrick Henry is your 2015 Heisman Trophy victor, that much was settled last night with ESPN’s insanely long and incredibly boring Heisman Trophy Presentation Show. Though maybe Jarrett Stidham will be the Baylor quarterback with the Heisman hype?
Eddie George won the 1995 Heisman Trophy, one year before Stanford do-it-all star and 2015 Heisman finalist Christian McCaffrey was born. His mother, Lisa, played soccer at Stanford.
“We never pushed him into playing any sports”.

The running back of the Alabama Crimson Tide bested two other finalists for the prestigious award, namely, Christian McCaffrey from Stanford University and Deshaun Watson from Clemson University.
He compiled 3,496 all-purpose yards, breaking a record set by NFL Hall of Famer Barry Sanders in 1988 for Oklahoma State. With that being said, it’s also one of the greatest nights for the family that has stuck with the player through thick and thin to this point.
Running backs Royce Freeman, sophomore, Oregon; Larry Rose III, sophomore, New Mexico State.
“There aren’t many positions the young man can’t play – I’d say offensive and defensive line are it”, Stanford coach David Shaw said in November. “He can play middle linebacker, fullback, receiver, quarterback. He’s a phenomenal football player”.
This year’s Heisman race became a regional rivalry.
Did it hurt McCaffrey that his team didn’t get into the College Football Playoff? For the first time football wasn’t easy.
Henry’s SEC record for rushing yards, along with his 23 touchdowns, are impressive, but should conference records outweigh NCAA records? The past two weeks he has carried the ball 90 times, including 44 attempts for 189 yards in Alabama’s SEC title game victory over Florida.
CBS actually began Henry’s campaign this year during its prime-time telecast of the Alabama-LSU showdown on November 7.
Deshaun Watson, quarterback of No. 1 Clemson, finished third.
He received 1,832 points, 293 more than McCaffrey. The quarterback reeled off 3,631 yards of offense, becoming the first Cougar signal-caller to rush for 1,000 yards. McCaffrey is the only candidate from the pacific side of America that had a chance to win the award. He also carried the midwest, southwest, mid-Atlantic and northeast.
Stanford’s do-it-all running back, Christian McCaffrey, was the runner-up to Henry.
He’ll return to Stanford next season as a junior – with another shot at a Heisman. “Following with anything less than that is unacceptable for me”.
