Myleene Klass shows off 73 mosquito bites in Philippines
It is some sort of cruel punishment that the most attractive places on the planet are filled with tiny bitey insects that will make your skin so unbearably itchy that you won’t even appreciate your surroundings because OW.
The TV star headed to a remote island in the Pacific to record a song with the islanders in order to raise money to fix typhoon damage.
“It’s deemed men’s work but they said I could come”.
Writing on Instagram, Myleene said: ‘Taken when I took a PIANO to the island of Mog Mog to write a song a live with a tribe!’
You can hear an exclusive sneak peek of the track Myleene recorded with the islanders below. “I slept on a beach for two hours, then cried all over the chief”.
The trip was documented for her show Singing in the Rainforest.
Myleene said she was “frozen” and “looking at it holding the spear”.
Myleene said the tribe were “all brilliant” and since returning to the United Kingdom she has sent them presents of “flip-flops to stickers to perfume” for their gratitude.
Recording the show with the Ulithians tribe, Myleene was overwhelmed by how “welcoming” they were, despite the fact that she respectfully declined the invitation to go topless like the other female locals, and despite the fact that she managed to get the dress code completely wrong.
She also touched on her rise to fame – and perhaps one of her most iconic moments, being seen wearing a white bikini during I’m A Celebrity… So when they have got a little shelter built I will go.
Explaining her decision not to strip off, she said: “I wore bras, bikinis and T-shirts – it’s still going out to a Western audience”. ‘But that’s what saved me.
“And I saw my hat – because we swapped hats – and she was waiting by the boat for me and she wouldn’t let go, it kills me thinking about it now, she was like “take me with you” and wish I could have taken her and her children”. ‘It’s got no positive connotations whatsoever.
“They mistook it as me taking aim and were like, ‘Don’t shoot the shark.’ They thought I was insane but I hadn’t slept for 36 hours”.
“Singing In The Rainforest“, which sees celebrities record music with the tribe, will air tonight (14.09.15) at 9pm.
