Mystery donor drops annual $1000 into Salvation Army kettle
All kettles for The Salvation Army in Washington, Peoria and East Peoria will be wrapping up their collections on Christmas Eve. Online shopping impacts foot traffic, and fewer people are carrying cash.
Another highly valuable coin has been found in a Salvation Army kettle in the Flathead Valley over the weekend.
“Right now, we are at $2.3 million – and by the end of the year, we need to be at about $3.9 million”, Jennings said.
Kettle income supports a variety of programs and services in CT, including food pantries, shelters, emergency assistance, summer camp programs, school readiness, after school programs, as well as holiday assistance taking place in communities across the state.
“We can’t risk not doing well this year because people are in need and it’s going to be a busy year for us”, Major Dan Jennings with the Salvation Army said. It asks for it to be auctioned off in honor of their aunt Doris, who the salvation army had helped years ago.
Now, The Salvation Army is asking for your help in spreading some of that happiness by donating, to help offset the cost of the gifts they had to purchase.
