‘Mystery of Gold Artifact’ That Stumped Israeli Archaeologists Solved by
In accordance with security protocol, the worker immediately alerted police forces in the area who carried out a controlled explosion within the building to eliminate any possible threat from the package.
Among the hundreds of speculations were “a cattle insemination instrument, an implement for rolling dough, pieces of industrial machinery, watches, an object used for massage and cultic objects used in the Temple”, the authority said on Facebook.
It was a mystery that stumped even the brightest minds at Israel’s Antiquities Authority for nearly six months.
The golden object wasn’t an ancient artifact at all, but actually a New Age energy healing device now manufactured in Germany, the authority said.
“At first we thought it was a military object, but then began to dream”.
In a post, they asked followers if they had any idea what the item was.
What was now known, aside from the weight of the gold-plated “mysterious object”, object, the baffled IAA said, was that it was found in a building in an unspecified Jerusalem cemetery. It is a German device used for creating a protective field against radiation.
Few believed that the truth could be unearthed so quickly, but within hours of the social media request, readers appear to have hit the nail on the head, pointing out that the mysterious object bore a striking resemblance to a Weber Isis Beamer harmoniser, a device sold online for up to $350.
The independent Israeli governmental authority had been so confounded in the months since its discovery, according to NBC News, that they turned to its Facebook page on Tuesday in hopes that someone would recognize the object.
They zeroed in on a comment made by an Italian man, Micah Barak, who suggested the object was designed by naturopaths to deal with healing energy.
Mr Barak has been invited to visit the IAA next time he is in Israel.
