N. Dakota to block supplies from pipeline protesters’ camp
On Monday, North Dakota Governor Jack Dalrymple ordered protesters against the Dakota Access pipeline to immediately evacuate their main encampment at Standing Rock, citing “harsh winter conditions” and noting the area is “not zoned for dwellings suitable for living in winter conditions”, Reuters reports.
I understand you are funding the DAPL pipeline, being constructed by Energy Transfer Partners from North Dakota to IL.
A source close to Standing Rock Sioux Chairman Dave Archambault II told NBC News that they anxious the order “could put lives at risk” if protesters and activists – who refer to themselves as “water protectors” – were forced to immediately leave the camp in sub-freezing temperatures. Sunday the Army Corps of Engineers issued a statement saying it had “no plans for forcible removal”.
The Corps said “more risky groups have joined this protest and are provoking conflict in spite of the public pleas from tribal leaders”.
Besides slowing construction of the pipeline, the group’s goal is to kick up widespread support for the protesters, according to organizers.

Despite the sub-freezing temperatures, law enforcement on November 21 used water cannons to disperse protesters who had blockaded a highway. Authorities say one officer was injured. That means that after that date everyone who remains at the main protest camp will, at least in theory, be trespassing and could be arrested.
Native American citizens and environmentalists at Sioux Tribe’s land have recently stood up to Tasers, pepper spray and rubber bullets, protesting against the underground proposed pipeline.
“They don’t call themselves protesters”, Vielle said. The pipeline is projected to move a half-million barrels of crude oil daily to an existing pipeline in Patoka, Illinois, for shipment to Midwest and Gulf Coast markets.
This definition of the evacuation area shall remain in effect even if the United States Army Corps of Engineers redefines or removes these prohibited areas.
The demonstrators are trying to block the construction of the $3.8 billion Dakota Access Pipeline beneath a lake near the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation.
North Dakota’s notoriously brutal winters may help empty the camp of protesters, many of them who are from out of state, Kirchmeier said. An appeal is pending.
This is literally what we swore to do – to protect the citizens of America from enemies both foreign and domestic.
Fong said the executive order is a sort of line in the sand and leaves it up to individuals camping in the area to get out. Thousands have protested for months.
The couple also took several shots at President-elect Donald Trump with reminders that he lost the popular vote and digs at his cabinet appointees.
