Nainggolan would trash his room if he couldn’t smoke, admits Wilmots
Roma are unlikely to accept Chelsea’s latest offer given the player’s desire to stay but the Italian giants may be tempted if a bigger bid from Stamford Bridge is lodged.
Nainggolan was unable to inspire Marc Wilmots’s Belgium side to victory in their Euro 2016 opener after the Red Devils lost 2-0 to Conte’s Italy outfit before the heavily-fancied side secured back-to-back wins against the Republic of Ireland and Sweden.
“In training retreats I always try to give him a room with a balcony so he doesn’t set off the smoke alarms”.
Wilmots told Belgian outlet Sportza: “Yes, he smokes”.
‘I said to him [Pallotta] I love where I am playing so why not stay? I am flexible when it comes to matters like this. I think he is the only one at the Belgium national team who smokes.
“If I forbid him to smoke 5-6 cigarettes a day, he breaks the chamber of myself”.
Wilmots stressed: “It’s his problem if this means he will have to retire at 30 rather than at 35”.
“Tomorrow I drink a glass of wine and I’m an alcoholic …”
But it’s not something we expect from professional footballers. “And do not look for something stupid”, he wrote on Twitter as seen below.
