Najam Sethi wants Indian cricketers in PSL
Star Australia all-rounder, Shane Watson, has now become the 152nd foreign player to join the Pakistan Super League (PSL), it was announced on Monday.
Even though the PCB Chairman Shaharyar Khan said at a press conference in Lahore last week that he had little hopes of the series with India being held in December due to the existing relations between the two countries but well-informed sources have not ruled out a few sort of compromise.
As stated by the sources, BCCI Secretary Anurag Thakur and Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Shahryar Khan met in Dubai where Anurag informed him that anything regarding December series could not be discussed as Indian board is entangled in its internal affairs. “Usually Pakistan and India are placed in 1 group in ICC tournaments, because ICC and Broadcasters wants to maximize their revenue”.
Kamran Akmal, Sohail Tanvir and Younis Khan were part of Shane Warne’s IPL-winning Rajasthan Royals squad.
“This clause that the Indian board must have clearance from their government to play Pakistan will always be used as an excuse to not revive Indo-Pak bilateral series”, he insisted. “If that happens, we will also be talking about a reciprocal arrangement and I have had preliminary talks with people in Delhi on this – about Pakistani players being allowed to play in IPL”, he added.
Mani made it clear that unless Pakistan took strong steps there was no way India would play them in December. It will be hard for them to refuse that. “If Indian players do come in, then I think PSL will become the biggest thing in cricket after IPL”. It has even listed an Indian coach, former all-rounder Robin Singh.
