Naldo: ‘Kevin de Bruyne exit would be a blow’
Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs says the club are preparing themselves for a number of bids for Kevin De Bruyne.
The 24-year-old has been strongly linked with a move away from Germany, with Manchester City believed to be interested in signing him.
While the audience laughed and cheered, realising it was an amusing take on the media speculation surrounding the player, his agent Patrick de Koster was less than happy.
“It was a practical joke but we were not amused with it. Why?”
“An offer to Kevin, in terms of his salary, has already been made, and the figures are insane”.
“Kevin makes the difference for us”.
“Furthermore, we are not a club who needs transfer revenue”. We don’t have a comparable player in the squad.
De Bruyne scored 10 goals and set up an additional 20 for his teammates in the Bundesliga last season.
“It’s sure I’ll be playing with Wolfsburg this season”, the Belgian said during a ceremony organised by weekly Sport-Bild, where he was voted “star of the year”.
De Bruyne’s achievements contributed in no small way to Wolfsburg finishing second behind Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga and winning the DFB-Pokal, German’s cup competition. “When I feel good, then things also go well out on the field”.
