Naomi Watts Joins Cast Of Twin Peaks Revival
If he brings half of the energy he showed in those films to Twin Peaks, his presence will be welcome.
Widely considered one of the most influential broadcast series of all time, “Twin Peaks” followed the inhabitants of a quaint Northwestern town who were stunned after their homecoming queen Laura Palmer was shockingly murdered.
They join a growing Twin Peaks ensemble that includes series vets Kyle MacLachlan, Sheryl Lee and Sherilyn Fenn, as well as newcomers Laura Dern, Robert Knepper, Balthazar Getty and Amanda Seyfried.
Deadline first reported the casting news, but their roles are now unknown.
Meanwhile, the same source indicates that Lynch will reprise his role as FBI Regional Bureau Chief Gordon Cole, teasing a second helping of Twin Peaks’ classic “Cooper and Cole miscommunication” routine.
However, the real “get” here is Watts, an actress who has been nothing but busy and adventurous over the past few years. Watts previously worked with Lynch on Mulholland Drive.
Lynch himself is now responsible both for the new series’ direction, as well as a co-writing credit with co-creator Mark Frost. Filming is now underway in Washington state ahead of a debut in ‘early 2017’. It is not yet known just how many episodes this season will consist of, as Lynch is shooting the project as if it were one very long movie.
And you thought J.J. Abrams liked keeping a lid on things.
