Napier’s 3-pointer sends Magic to 100-97 win over Heat
The Heat dominated early, then the Magic dominated much of the second half before Gerald Green went nova in the fourth quarter to make it a game.
Shabazz Napier hit a 3-pointer with 3.5 seconds left to beat his former team as the Orlando Magic earned their first preseason win, 100-97 against the Miami Heat on Wednesday night.
Miami’s last time out: The Heat are also coming off a loss to Charlotte in their preseason opener.
Chris Bosh led the Heat with 18 points on a tight 5-of-7 shooting, including 2-of-3 from beyond the arc. Dwyane Wade chipped in nine points and six assists. He played 24 minutes in his second game back after missing the final 30 games last season because of blood clots in one of his lungs. Miami ran out of gas shortly after, allowing their opponents to take control of the game and have an 8-point lead at the end of the quarter. The game was competitive from that point onward, with the Magic holding a slim 24-23 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Single-game tickets through January 31, 2016, for the upcoming National Basketball Association season officially go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday. Head coach Erik Spoelstra elected to play the reserves down the stretch as the starters looked on. Bench continued contributing as Stoudemire and Justise Winslow scored a couple of points, helping Green.
Miami next hosts the San Antonio Spurs next Monday at 7:30pm and this time it will be televised by Fox Sports Sunday.
