Napoli Appoint Ancelotti As New Manager After Sarri Exit
Carlo Ancelotti will be the new Napoli coach and replace Maurizio Sarri, who is heading to Chelsea it seems.
Contact between De Laurentiis and the former AC Milan and Real Madrid coach has been ongoing for weeks amid the indecision of Sarri, who has a contract with Napoli until 2020.
“I like a lot watching Napoli and I learn a lot from Maurizio’s teams”, said Pep Guardiola after Napoli faced Manchester City this season.
The 59-year-old left Napoli earlier in the month – Carlo Ancelotti was named his successor last week – and Sarri is already reportedly preparing for his move to west London.
While Ancelotti won the fourth league championship by adding the Bundesliga to his collection, a slow start to his second season, coupled with a 3-0 defeat at PSG in the Champions League, saw him dismissed.
The Blues, however, face competition over the 59-year-old Italian, who has also caught the eye of Zenit St Petersburg, who were willing to match the manager’s release clause in order to lure him to Russian Federation.
The Italian was sacked by Bayern Munich last September but has returned to the touchline after signing a two-year deal with the Serie A club.
He is the only coach in history to win the Championships of Italy, England, France and Germany.
That was the message that Ancelotti gave in four different languages – Italian, English, French and Spanish.
Italian news outlet CalcioNapoli24, who are quoted on Sport Witness, say that Napoli are ready to allow their manager to join Chelsea even without the Blues paying his release clause.
Ancelotti had been linked with the Italy coaching job before Mancini’s appointment.
“Welcome back to Italy Ancelotti! Serie A regains one of the excellences of our football”.
