Narendra Modi a ‘coward’ and a ‘psycopath’: Arvind Kejriwal
“It is not a raid on Arvind Kejriwal’s office, it was a raid on Rajender Kumar, principal secretary to the CM [chief minister]”, CBI spokesperson Devpreet Singh told BBC Hindi.
Following unprecedented raids on Delhi Secretariat by CBI, Arvind Kejriwal has lashed out at the Central government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
By evening a whole new spin was given by the AAP government, which claimed that the CBI came looking for papers pertaining to allegations of corruption in the Delhi District Cricket Association, casting direct aspersions at Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, who used to handle the affairs of the cricketing body. They would have seized it. But after my media briefing, they left it. Unaware if they took a copy of the same documents from my office.
After Jaitley spoke in the Rajya Sabha, the Delhi chief minister shot back: “FM lied in Parliament”.
The AAP’s claims of raid on Delhi Secretariat was no more about the DDCA irregularities which the Delhi government intends to probe, he said. What is his role in DDCA scam?
Anna Hazare questioned the timing of the CBI raid.
Kejriwal also demanded to know why ministers in the previous Congress government and other officers who also signed the supposedly corrupt contracts approved by Kumar were not raided.
“Rajender toh bahana hain, Kejriwal nishana hain [Rajender is just an excuse, Kejriwal is the target]”, Kejriwal told reporters after a day-long drama. “Let Modi say which file he desires?” Modi once called Kejriwal a “Pakistani agent” and an “anarchist who should join the Naxals [Maoist rebels] in the jungles”. However, the national investigating agency later clarified that it was not his office, but the office of his Principal Secretary Rajendra Kumar.
“Our team didn’t raid the Chief Minister’s office, but restricted entry to certain areas”. “You apologise to the nation for your misdeeds and I will apologise for my words”, Kejriwal said in the evening after the BJP attack on him for his strong words against Modi.
The CBI said it had searched 14 places in Delhi connected with Kumar, including his residence, and various locations in Uttar Pradesh, and recovered Rs 16 lakh in cash, including Rs 2.4 lakh from Kumar’s residence alone.
Training his guns on the PM, Bandyopadhyay said senior Gujarat cadre officers had been deputed in CBI and one of them “shared” his name with Modi and the agency had turned into “GBI”.
