Narendra Modi, Amit Shah host ‘Diwali Milan’ lunch for media
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah on Saturday hosted a lunch for media persons at the party headquarters here as Diwali Milan celebrations.
He waded with folded palms by way of the ocean of scribes as everybody had their cell telephones out to click on an image with him.
Modi said he wanted to host the “Diwali Milan” earlier but because of his busy schedule he could not do so.
“Through these festivals our ancestors tried to give new inspiration to the society”. I can not think about the variety of tales that may be churned if we sit to analyse the impression of our festivals in our society.
In this context, he cited the example of the Kumbh Mela in which, he said, crowds equal to the population of a small European country gathered every day on the banks of the Ganga. That a lot is the variety of individuals, who collect on the occasion. Security personnel had a tough time as there was a rush to get selfies and photographs with the prime minister.
A day after meeting Congress president Sonia Gandhi and former prime minister Manmohan Singh, PM Narendra Modi organised a luncheon meeting with the representatives of the media fraternity.
Several Union ministers including Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu, Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, Communications & IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and HRD Minister Smriti Irani were present at the programme.
