Narendra Modi unveils Statue of Swami Vivekananda in Kuala Lumpur
Modi and his entourage arrived at the mission grounds about 4.20pm and were greeted by Swami Supriyananda, the president of the Ramakrishna Mission in Malaysia, and hundreds of people waiting to catch a glimpse of the Indian leader.

The Prime Minister unveiled the bronze statue of Vivekananda amid cheers from more than 2,000 Indians, a lot of them ethnic Indian-Malaysians. “It is a great fortune for me to dedicate the statue of Swami VIvekananda on Malaysian soil”, he said while addressing the Indian community at Petaling Jaya.
At the end of his speech, Modi announced that the Indian High Commission in Kuala Lumpur would be releasing a bilingual book, in English and Malay, on yoga and wellness by yoga master Ajay Sahoo.
The statue was made by Anil Kumar Ghosh from Kolkata, The Ramakrishna Mission was set up here in 2001.
“Narendra [Swami Vivekananda] was in search of the truth. According to him Jan Seva is Prabhu Seva”, he added. The quest for truth delivered his master Ramakrishna Paramhans and Swami Vivekananda together.
