NASA set to reveal another space discovery
NASA is set to announce an “amazing” finding Thursday about Pluto, claims a lead scientist with the agency – which has taken to social media to dispel the rumor.
Dr Alan Stern, a planetary scientist and Principal Investigator on Nasa’s New Horizons Pluto mission, revealed the exciting announcement whilst speaking at the University of Alberta in Canada.
Dr Stern revealed Pluto has an atmosphere, volcanic activity – and even WEATHER.
Stern said that NASA wouldn’t allow him to reveal much about the announcement except that it is going to be “amazing”.
“Nasa won’t wow what we’re going to let you know on Thursday”, he said amid the discourse.
The New Horizons probe has aleady made a series of groundbreaking discoveries about the previously mysterious planet and has beamed back stunning images of its surfaces to earth.
However, NASA could have found clues to suggest that the icy world at the edge of our Solar System is capable of harbouring living organisms.
The most recent pictures from the New Horizons spacecraft showcased a wide variety of terrains on both Pluto and Charon.
Last week, Nasa unveiled new images of the surfce of Pluto, which show a landscape of mountains, craters and gorges.
“2015 will be a year in textbooks forever”, he said. He also talked about New Horizons extended mission to fly across the Kuiper Belt.
The Hubble Space Telescope and the Space Station have also transformed the way we see our solar system and the universe beyond.
