NASA TV UHD here soon
The new channel is product of an Space Act Agreement between video delivery infrastructure company Harmonic and NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center. It will be including live and linear 2160p60 video ambient content to a list of TV and IP-linked devices.
The first ever commercial ultra-high definition (UHD) channel in North America comes together as NASA launches its own dedicated channel on deep space exploration.
NASA TV UHD video might be sourced from excessive-decision pictures and video generated on the global Space Station (ISS) and different present NASA missions, in addition to re-mastered footage from historic missions. Accessible or not, this is certainly one area where 4K delivery matters, due to the intricacy of the content that NASA deals with.
NASA’s new UHD TV channel will have four times the definition of full HD television. The agency is also remastering footage from its historical missions to be enjoyed at the next-gen resolution. Astronaut selection rates from the world’s public and private space agencies range from 4% down to a tiny fraction of a percent.
Given the inherent grandeur and majestic beauty of space, seeing it all in ultra-high, 4K resolution is sure to awe and inspire.
Exact distribution partners for NASA TV UHD have not been announced yet, but Harmonic is working with pay TV providers to offer the channel on satellite, cable and optical networks.
Peter Alexander, Harmonic’s chief marketing officer, stated that as NASA continues to scale new heights and reveal the mysterious space, the new channel will bring those exploits to every home. Thanks to Harmonic, NASA will be delivering 2160p video at 60fps. The channel will also be streamed on the Internet, which will require at least 13 Mbps access connectivity to receive the signal and achieve the UHD experience.
