While a motive for the shooting remained unclear, Reinking, 29, remained in the downtown Nashville jail on $2 million bond. Once inside, Reinking opened fire with an AR-15, killing two more people and injuring two others.

A representative of Swift did not return a message seeking comment, nor did the public defender appointed to represent Reinking, who has not entered a plea. Twenty-nine-year-old Travis Reinking was apprehended early Monday afternoon not far from his apartment complex.

Months before four people were gunned down at a Tennessee Waffle House, authorities had seized the weapons of the shooter Travis Reinking of Morton, Illinois.

Darlene Sustrich, Reinking’s former boss, described him as appearing paranoid and delusional at times.

He took three rifles and a handgun away from his son when Reinking was having “problems” last June, according to police reports. Reinking agreed to go to a local hospital for an evaluation after repeatedly resisting the request, the sheriff’s report said.

Reinking, at the time, told Guinne Stropes of the Mountain Mail that he resided in Salida. The FBI says sovereign citizens believe they are separate from the US and don’t have to answer to any government authority, including courts and law enforcement.

Officers ordered Reinking to get on the ground, and Lara said he complied immediately and was placed in handcuffs. Perez, a patron, was fatally wounded standing outside the restaurant.

James Shaw Jr. was able to wrestle the gun from Reinking in the midst of the shooting.

The Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release on Monday the weapons were transferred to Jeffrey Reinking, who possessed a valid Firearm Owner’s Identification Card and, by IL law, was able to legally possess them.

McMurry, who also addressed the politicians, praised Shaw as not only his best friend but “a great man”.

The Senate will also honor Shaw Jr.

Reinking was charged with four counts of criminal homicide.

It’s not clear why Reinking attacked shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday, though he may have “mental issues”, Nashville police Chief Steve Anderson said earlier. “When he started shooting, I actually jumped and lunged towards the bathroom area and I was actually looking at him and then when he – he actually shot towards the bathroom area and I was actually grazed with a bullet in my upper right elbow”. They discovered it outside the apartment where he lived and hauled it away.

“With heavy hearts, we created this tee in hopes that in some small way we can create a ripple effect to spread love after such a tragedy and to bring any relief we can to the victims who were impacted”.

Authorities say Shaw’s courageous actions saved numerous lives, but he has refused to call himself a hero, saying he only took on the gunman to save his own life.

Reinking, a 29-year-old construction worker with a history of erratic brushes with law enforcement, was captured in woods on Monday after more than a day on the run. But it left troubling questions about his behavior before the shooting unanswered.
