Nate Diaz could pay steep price for post-fight vaping
Should the UFC pair Alvarez and McGregor, it is likely they would allow the latter to hold on to his featherweight crown until the bout is decided. J Lo told Casper it was super important for him to accompany her to Ron Perelman’s Hamptons fundraiser Saturday night benefiting the Apollo Theater. He either needs to fight Jose Aldo again (who looked mighty impressive in his last win against Frankie Edgar) or match up against current lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez. Before Conor McGregor’s triumph over Nate Diaz at UFC 202, McGregor was interviewed by the Los Angeles Times about the Diaz rematch, and he brought up the era of “cherry picking” among the top names in combat sports.
Diaz did a drug test earlier that night, but the results haven’t come back yet.
As is customary, I’ll post the video window here as the event draws near and I’ll answer any questions you may have if you post them in the comments section below. Dana White insists Conor McGregor must defend his UFC Featherweight strap next but there could be another option.
Aldo and Alvarez are +150 underdogs in a potential fight against McGregor, while Diaz has +155 odds. Second, it’s a great story: could McGregor really come back and beat Diaz and build on his mythology? Speaking to Submission Radio (h/t Adam Guillen Jr. of MMA Mania) the day after the fight, Diaz said he would accept his next opponent “only if it’s a big fight, a big deal for a big contract”. He was supposed to fight for the lightweight title at UFC 196, but Diaz replaced the injured Rafael dos Anjos on short notice and asked for the fight to be bumped up to welterweight. I don’t understand why he wants another fight with Nate and doesn’t want to give Aldo a new chance. And in the meantime, they’re sure to wage another war of words as fierce as their battle in the Octagon.
