Nation observes first anniversary of APS attack today
Diplomats of several countries, Pakistan People’s Party chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Awami National Party president Asfandyar Wali Khan have also been invited to the ceremony.
Meanwhile a public holiday is being observed in Peshawar on the account of first anniversary of the attack while a public holiday has been announced in Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan provinces.
Adviser to Chief Minister Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani told a press conference that the provincial government had announced public holiday in Peshawar district today. Different political and social groups arranged hold peace walks, special prayers and seminars. The Archives Library itself would be renamed as Shuhada-e-Army Public School Library.
Strict security arrangements have been made to ensure peaceful observance of the anniversary. Moreover, many families have also been sent overseas so they could forget the incident.
The army chief said that security forces will continue to consolidate their gains to make them sustainable, which, he said, will be the best way to pay homage to all those killed and wounded in the APS attack.
Nawaz stated that the sacrifice of the martyrs will never be forgotten.
The military brass expressed satisfaction over the achievements in the ongoing Zarb-i-Azb operation in North Waziristan and pledged the operation would continue till the complete eradication of terrorism from the country.
National Action Plan against Terrorism was formulated and is under implementation, which has achieved remarkable successes.
He said that thousands of Pakistanis have sacrifices their lives in the war against terrorism so far which include officers and Jawans of Pak army, police, children and citizens.
A source said the military commanders also discussed efforts to revive the Afghan peace talks as well as the recent decision of Pakistan and India to resume their composite dialogue.
