National Basketball Association scores: Kristaps Porzingis is giving the Knicks life
Back in August, when the schedule was released, it would have been tough to find anyone willing to predict even a. 500 start for NY. Rockets interim coach J.B. Bickerstaff floated the idea of playing C Dwight Howard in back-to-back games for the first time this season yet opted to start Clint Capela instead. In the other five games, Cousins is averaging 32 points on 46 percent shooting, 12 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.8 blocks.
Additionally, the Knicks fell to the Hawks in the second game of the season.
The fantasy for a few Knicks fans involves Durant one day suiting up with Porzingis. Aaron Afflalo chipped in 16 points while Carmelo Anthony finished with 14. Right now, nobody in NY can really ask for anything more.
The slender, 7-foot-3 forward who was thunderously booed when the Knicks drafted him with the No. 4 pick had fans chanting “Por-zing-is!” After Porzingis gave the Knicks an 88-85 lead with a pair of free throws at the 7:31 mark, the Rockets sandwiched a pair of 3-pointers around a trey from Afflalo. Waiting for Harden at the rim was Porzingis, who blocked the ensuing shot from Harden.
NY Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony (7) reacts after Houston Rockets guard James Harden was called for an offensive foul in the second half of an NBA basketball game, Saturday, November 21, 2015, in Houston. Anthony’s attempt was one of those ‘no, no, no, yes, yes, yes type of shots as Anthony was doubled teamed on the play…but it went in…so whatever.
Jose Calderon appeared in only seven games that the Knicks won last season.
Donovan’s lone National Basketball Association season as a player came in 44 appearances with the Knicks back in 1987-88.
Ariza then went on to miss the potential game tying three, allowing NY to seal the game at the line but Anthony left the door open by splitting his free-throws.
Covington finally made a 3-pointer. Led by the brilliant Dwayne Wade, who starred with 27 points four assists and seven rebounds on the night, the Heat turned the match around in the third and fourth quarters to claim a 96-91 victory over the winless Philadelphia outfit. They shot 12-of-28 from beyond the arc and killed the Knicks in points in the paint (42-20) and second-chance points (33-20).
The rookie put the full arsenal on display, hitting three-point field goals, hook shots with both hands and perhaps most important, putting his length to work, swatting shots against the undersized and underachieving Rockets, to lead the Knicks to a 107-102 win at the Toyota Center. Kristaps Porzingis, in all his glory, nailed a long catch-and-shoot three for the win as time expired, but the referees ruled that the ball was still on his fingertips as the backboard lit up. No surprise, he ranks first in offensive rebound percentage, and ranks fourth among rookies in the offensive rating category, which measures the amount of points a team scores while that person is on the court.
Porzingis was quiet in Friday night’s win in Oklahoma City, scoring only seven points.
On Saturday, Anthony was hampered by foul trouble and finished with 14 points on 5-for-10 shooting.
