National Basketball Association sources: Pelicans make offer to Jason Terry
Terry also has an offer on the table from the Rockets, but he reportedly considers it “insufficient”.
Free agent guard Jason Terry is considering leaving the Houston Rockets for the New Orleans Pelicans, reports KRIV’s Mark Berman. McDaniels. If the Pelicans are indeed offering the BAE it is unlikely the Rockets can match financially. The Pelicans can offer Terry the biannual exception, which is worth over $600,000 more than a minimum deal. Terry would be a valuable asset for the Pelicans, who desperately need to add depth behind Jrue Holiday and Eric Gordon.
The 37-year-old Terry played 77 games last season with Houston with 18 starts. As a shooting guard in a point guard’s body Terry could make a lot of sense in a reserve role alongside Tyreke Evans handling the ball; much as Terry did in Houston beside James Harden. If Houston believes in Lawson it seems likely that they may allow Terry to walk for more money elsewhere.
As previously reported by the Inquisitr, the New Orleans Pelicans are also trying to re-sign Norris Cole before the beginning of the National Basketball Association preseason.
During the regular season Terry shot 39 percent from the three-point line, fifth-best of his 16-year career, and his best work since the 2006-07 season. Both teams would likely still be successful without Terry but he would be a nice addition to either team and his championship pedigree can not be overlooked.
