National Football League extends deal to play games at Wembley through 2020
The Jaguars are preparing for an NFL football game against the Buffalo Bills at London’s Wembley stadium on Sunday.
“The habits I learned from Tom Brady and Bill Belichick and Andrew Luck and Chuck Pagano, now it’s with the Jacksonville Jaguars and I’m able to spread the knowledge to the rest of the team”.
The game is a first in National Football League history, one that will not be broadcast on any television network but instead streamed online exclusively by Yahoo!
As part of the deal, Jacksonville Jaguars extended their contract to play at least one match per season in London until 2020.
The NFL previously announced a separate deal to play at least two games a season over a 10-year period at Premier League club Tottenham’s new stadium, scheduled to open in 2018. The Jaguars are 1-5, with their only win coming over the dysfunctional Miami Dolphins.
But the Jaguars could have a few important advantages. Defensive lineman Kyle Williams has been ruled out, as has wide receiver Sammy Watkins.
And it gets worse for the Bills.
Ryan arrived in London this week armed with plenty of bravado, declaring British fans should support his Bills because they wore the colours of the Union Jack, and Brown, an ex-New England Patriot who often faced Ryan’s Jets, knows that if Ryan is kept quiet on the Wembley sidelines this Sunday, his team are doing something right.
“He still has a few soreness in that knee”.
“We have to control their coach as much as we’ve got to control their team”.
“For us, London and Jacksonville is nearly a marriage made in heaven”, owner Shad Khan told the team’s website earlier this year.
As a fan here in Jacksonville, I like the idea of the Jaguars becoming the global ambassador of the NFL. We want this market to be reflective of the other 31 we have in the US.
Kickoff is at 2:30 p.m. local time in London – great timing for fans in Europe and Asia.
