National Football League suspends Burfict 3 games
Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict was suspended for the first three games of next season as the National Football League began handing down punishments on Monday for an ugly wild-card playoff game.
Ben Roethlisberger admitted on Tuesday that he is a major doubt for Sunday’s National Football League playoff game at Denver after suffering torn ligaments and an AC joint sprain in his right shoulder. “But you know and I know that… he gonna be cleared, I promise you, 24 hours before the game”.
It seems Pacman is sticking to his guns.
Speaking after Roethlisberger’s radio appearance Tuesday, Steelers Coach Mike Tomlin was similarly unsure of Roethlisberger’s and Brown’s status, while seeming doubtful on running back DeAngelo Williams, who missed the Bengals game with a foot injury.
Cy Brown writes about soccer and other stuff for Sports on Earth. The two flags moved the Steelers from the Cincinnati 47 to the 17, where kicker Chris Boswell made a 35-yard field goal with 14 seconds remaining to lift the Steelers to the two-point win. Brown was diagnosed with a concussion and Burfit received a personal foul penalty that likely changed the final score of the game.
Brown, Roethlisberger’s top target, has been in concussion protocol since taking a hit to the head from Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict on the Steelers’ game-winning drive.
Now Jones says he’ll apologize to Brown…but only under certain circumstances.
“We know how to get there”, cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick said.
Burfict will serve the suspension next season, pending any appeal he makes.
“It hurts, it stings, and it’s going to for a long time”, Lewis said.
Within the locker room, the Steelers were incensed.
Jones was penalized after he got into an altercation with Steelers assistant coach Joey Porter, who had come onto the field at the same time Brown was being tended to by medical staff. Jones, on Monday on “The Dan Patrick Show”, alleged that Jones was faking and “winked” as he was walking off.
