National Football League will consider Talib suspension
The Super Bowl champion admitted to USA TODAY after the game that his second personal foul of the day on Panthers WR Corey Brown was on objective. Talib was aware of the two players’ location on the field and knew that what would normally be a 15-yard penalty would actually just be 1.5 yards in this instance. Talib said he was just having “a regular conversation” with Brown. “I hope he plays when we travel to (D)enver next (year)”. ”One was on our sidelines [for taunting] – the guy was talking on our sideline”. The first one involved him taunting a Carolina Panthers player right in front of his head coach Gary Kubiak.
“It’s probably going to be a fine”.
Doug Kyed of NESN passed along comments from Talib, who had two personal fouls called on him in the first half, following the game about the play in question, and he admitted it was a conscious decision: “It was all good”.
“I wish he wouldn’t have done that but you’ve got to be careful”, Rivera said. The thing we have to understand too, maybe you’re going to create a system where referees are going to look at things whether they’re flagrant fouls or not.
Later in the half Talib was flagged again for a personal foul after violently grabbing and pulling Brown’s facemask in order to prevent a touchdown. “If that’s how he felt, unfortunately, then the league will have to decide on that”. Most recently, he missed one game in November 2015 after he poked an opponent in the eye.
Even though the Super Bowl is over, the trash talking continues. Carolina is set to travel to Denver in 2016, and the schedule will be released in the spring.
