National Society of Film Critics: ‘Spotlight’ best picture
The OFCC also released its top 10 films of 2015: “Spotlight”, “Mad Max: Fury Road“, “Brooklyn”, “Ex Machina”, “The Big Short”, “Carol“, “The Revenant”, “Inside Out”, “Sicario” and “The Hateful Eight”.
The National Society of Film Critics also named actor Michael B. Jordan best actor for his role as Adonis Johnson in the seventh “Rocky” boxing movie and the latest entry into the long running boxing franchise and Charlotte Rampling was voted best actress for her work in the marital drama “45 Years“.
The Oklahoma Film Critics Circle includes voting members who write for print publications, broadcast and online outlets in the state, including Michael Smith of the Tulsa World, the Oklahoman, the Oklahoma Gazette and the Tulsa Voice.
Mauritania’s “Timbuk-tu” won the award for foreign language film. That award went to Todd Haynes, director of the 1950s lesbian romance “Carol“, starring Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara as the film’s lovers.
Kristen Stewart garnered more awards-love for her role in Clouds of Sils Maria, taking best supporting actress. The runner-up in the category was “Phoenix”, while “The Assassin” placed third.
Asif Kapadia’s documentary Amy, following the tragic downfall of British singer/songwriter Amy Winehouse, won best non-fiction film.
– Association Chaplin for supervising the digital restoration of Charlie Chaplin’s Essanay films. In fact, they have only seen eye to eye for the top film five times: 1977’s “Annie Hall”; 1992’s “Unforgiven”; 1993’s “Schindler’s List”‘; 2004’s “Million Dollar Baby”; and 2009’s “The Hurt Locker”.
