Navjot Singh Sidhu launches own party ‘Awaaz-e-Punjab’

Attacking the AAP, Mr Sidhu said that in his meeting with Mr Kejriwal he had asked him to define his role in the party. “Kejriwal only wants Yes Men”, he asserted.

Also invoking the rich legacy of Punjab which he said has suffered due the rising drug problem in the state, Sidhu said, “Where is the Punjab that used to produce so many sportsmen?” With this announcement, he has closed all doors on his speculated association with any party.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal escaped unhurt when his Innova rammed into a police vehicle near PAP chowk on the Jalandhar-Amritsar road on Friday. It will contest the Punjab assembly elections, slated for early next year. “Our slogan is Punjab will win, Punjabiyat will win and Punjabis will win”. “The people of the state say the “black clouds” (Badals) should pave way to the bright sun”. There is buzz that ousted Punjab convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur, who has a huge fan base in Punjab, would join the party after discussion with his supporters.

The launch was made as Punjab is gearing up for the Assembly polls in the next few months.

Youth Akali Dal leader Gurpreet Singh Gosha led by other party activists tried to give bangles to Kejriwal, claiming his government had failed on all fronts.

He was flanked by former SAD leader Pargat Singh and the Bains brothers, Balwinder Singh Bains and Simarjit Singh Bains.

The former Rajya Sabha member had on September 2 floated the new political front online.

Talking about the roadmap ahead of Awaz-e-Punjab, Mr Sidhu said they will work for resurrection and redemption of Punjab.

“I refused to accept either of these two conditions and resigned”, Sidhu said.

“Let me make one thing very clear”.

“My resignation as the BJP MP from Rajya Sabha has nothing to do with Kejriwal”. He also said Kejriwal only wanted “Yes-men”.

Kejriwal today sought to woo farmers promising them sops like loan and interest waiver and vowed to stay put in Punjab until the ruling Badal family was “sent to jail”.

Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra said: “Whatever happened yesterday (Thursday) has diminished the image of Indian Railway as well as of the country”.

He further added, “The people of Punjab are really smart and understand that Sukhbir Badal has done everything. The same way East India Company took over and ruled India”, he said.
