Hamilton showed his excitement on the way to SW19 by posting a picture of his tickets on his Instagram account.
Hamilton had been due to sit in the exclusive viewing area for the final between Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic on Sunday afternoon.
A Wimbledon spokesman confirmed that the driver had left before the match was over but would not comment on why.
With the match at 4-3 in the fourth set, a Wimbledon spokesman responded to reports that Hamilton had been turned away by saying: “He did come but he has gone. We are not commenting further”.
The Brit was barred from the Royal Box during the Wimbledon men’s final for not being dressed appropriately.
Prior to the final, Hamilton had posted Wimbledon photos on Instagram, one of which accompanied a message in which he expressed his delight of having been invited to the Royal Box.
Other Royal Box guests included Wimbledon winners Bjorn Borg, Chrissie Evert and Rod Laver. Actresses Kate Winslet, Helena Bonham Carter and Kristin Scott Thomas were spotted watching the final on Centre Court, as were veteran actor Sir John Hurt, who recently said he had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, ex- Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, Italian football World Cup victor Alessandro Del Piero, actor Clive Owen and Vogue fashion magazine editor Anna Wintour.
