NBC denies Jimmy Fallon has ‘drinking problem’
The June incident in which he severely injured his finger, about which he told his TV audience “tripped and fell in my kitchen on a braided rug that my wife loves and I can’t wait to burn to the ground”, was followed in August when he told fans he “chipped front tooth trying to open tube of scar tissue fix gel for recovering finger injury”. During the TCA tour, Greenblatt said Fallon likes to go out and have fun which leads to accidents that concern them. He’s had some accidents. “Aside from that, I think he’s in better shape than he’s ever been”. But Fallon, according to Greenblatt, “doesn’t have a drinking problem that any of us know about”.
“I think that reconciles quite easily with we’re not in business with him, but love it or not, he’s one of the most important political figures of our time and he’s on our shows”.
Immediately following Sunday’s Golden Globes, host Ricky Gervais shared with Deadline that he had been asked to come back next year.
In the ratings, Meyers’ “Late Night” bests CBS’ “Late Late Show” and ABC’s “Nightline” in direct competition, NBC said.
Similar to “The Wiz” and NBC’s standing list of live television musicals, “Hairspray” is sure to have an all-star cast, although no official announcements regarding the roles have been made. “But we’re still doing it”. “I haven’t been part of it. I don’t have those conversations with Jimmy Fallon”. The network’s previous live musicals were “Peter Pan” with Allison Williams and “The Sound of Music” with Carrie Underwood.
“I’m thrilled about our diversity throughout the whole network”, Greenblatt said. “We’ll try to get bigger overall sponsors in the future, as we do on a lot of shows, which hopefully reduces the ad load”, he said.
