NC State, Louisville meet in ACC Atlantic Division matchup
Quarterback Jacoby Brissett is completing 77.9 percent of his passes., and tailback Matthew Dayes has rushed for at least 100 yards in all four games for N.C. State.
Louisville started 0-3, but regrouped with a 45-3 win against Samford last week behind quarterback Lamar Jackson and his school freshman record of 396 yards of offense. He also threw for a 20-yard touchdown to Devante Peete in the second, giving the Cards a 14-0 lead on a day when they remained in firm control from the start. The Wolfpack is making its 2015 ACC Network debut, which is to say that it’s time to say hello to our favorite mis-identifier of people and events, Mr. Tim Brant! Now North Carolina State is back in the same position, hosting Louisville in Saturday’s ACC opener and aiming to keep building momentum. While comparing defenses, the Louisville Cardinals own the league’s No. 68 rank in terms of road run defense, allowing 190.0 yards per game. He raised his total rushing yards to 416 yards for season, setting an all-time record for UofL quarterbacks.
Louisville told the pollsters by providing only two bags and you open hole for Jackson in order to operate for 184 of one’s Cardinals’ season-high 288 outdoor areas hastening.
The team spent most of Saturday fighting uphill, then committed two big turnovers after losing just one in its 4-0 start. North Carolina State tried to work outside instead of going indoors during damp conditions this week to prepare, while Louisville has been watching weather reports, too.
The Wolfpack had a bumpy week, with Doeren dismissing last year’s leading rusher Shadrach Thornton from the team following another round of legal trouble with a midweek arrest. Dayes also lost a fumble near midfield that the Cardinals converted into a field goal in the third.
NC State is a part of college football’s early slate for the first time this season, and maybe that’s for the best considering the rain threatening to drown the southeastern United States and/or wash it into the south Atlantic.
