Nearly 2000 Ford Mustang Orders Taken in the UK
With the latest version however, Dearborn chose to offer its Mustang all over the world and globalize it. Not only do they offer a turbocharged four-cylinder engine -useful in markets where people are taxed on the displacement of their powerplant- Ford also added a right-hand drive configuration so they can offer the vehicle in the United Kingdom and Japan.
First introduced more than five decades ago, the Mustang has excited fans worldwide ever since, even becoming the most-liked auto on Facebook, but has never before been available in the UK. 70% of customers went for the 416 PS 5.0-litre V8 variant over the more efficient 2.3-litre EcoBoost turbo petrol which puts out 317 PS. The six-speed manual transmission has also won the heart of 55 per cent of buyers, with the rest opting for the six-speed automatic.
FoMoCo announced the first right-hand drive cars begin to roll off the production line at Flatrock Assembly Plant in Michigan, North America, with a sure-shot destination: the UK, where nearly 2,000 Ford Mustang orders have been taken since January.
As for colours, Race Red is the cherry pick, accounting for 23% of the orders, with Magnetic Silver and Shadow Black joint second-choice with 16.1% each and Deep Impact Blue next at 10.7%. Seventy-five per cent preferred the Ebony Black interior over Ceramic (grey) and Dark Saddle (brown). First deliveries are expected from November.
Over half of UK Mustangs have been specified with the Custom Pack which includes satellite navigation, a Shaker Pro 12-speaker audio system, heated and cooled front seats, a rear view camera, Luster Nickel silver alloy wheels and extra chrome detailing on fastback models.
