Nebraska Girl’s Death Brings Life for Other Children
A 3-year-old Nebraska girl who died from terminal brain cancer Tuesday, has posthumously saved the lives of two sick children, KETV reported.
Olivia was known for her vibrant personality but she was diagnosed in May with terminal brain cancer known as diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma, which has a 0 percent survival rate.
Her family took her on a Disney cruise immediately after they found out. Donor’s Mom Laressa Swedberg says, “I have not doubt that Olivia was put her for a reason”. When they learned of two Pennsylvania boys in desperate need of new organs they arranged direct donations.
Lauressa Swedberg, Olivia’s mother, said that they were in Orlando when a lady emailed her and told them about Lucas, a child who needed a liver transplant. The boy’s family was in contact with Olivia’s family and his family is thanking Olivia for what she gave to their child.
Olivia’s liver was the miracle Lucas needed.
After 18 long months on a waiting list, Lucas Goeller, 2, received his first offer for a liver transplant last week.
Mazariegos said social media has been “definitely changing the landscape for transplantation” by providing a platform for families to talk.
His mother, Jessica Goeller, said in a report, “You look at those pictures and you look into her eyes and it’s like her soul is coming”. Angelo was born with intestines outside his stomach and he also received a transplant from Olivia. “I have seen God’s hand’s work in this and how could I not move forward knowing what a miracle she was to these pleading praying families?”
Sharing her conversation with Olivia’s mom, Jess Goeller said, “we talked this morning and she said that it was helping her in her grieving process to know that all these people cared and that Olivia had a goal and that was to save lives”.
