Neighbor fired rifle, unaware he killed Salma Hayek’s dog
Police officers have closed the investigation because the dog was on the neighbour’s property.
The unidentified neighbor said that he was sick of the 49-year old actress’ pooches coming onto to his property and attacking his own dogs, which he claims happened every time Hayek’s caretaker took the animals for a walk.
Washington state authorities say Salma Hayek’s neighbor fired an air rifle at a dog that had come into his garage and fought with his dogs and didn’t realize he had struck the dog. His artery was nicked, causing him to internally bleed out, according to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office. The neighbor said Hayek’s dogs were in his garage fighting with his two German Shepherds and that he tried to scare them away.
Hayek’s neighbor has come forward and confessed to killing the pet. Hayek has been mourning Mozart’s death, and is hopeful that law enforcement will prosecute the person that did this to her pet, one she even helped deliver from his mother’s womb. “We didn’t even know we killed a dog”. She wrote on her Instagram that she’s been mourning the loss of Mozart and that she wants authorities to “do justice to this wonderful dog” that she hadn’t known to ever bite or attack anyone. He said that dog owners are accountable for their dogs’ actions. The caretaker told deputies she went for a horseback ride with a few dogs. Mozart didn’t return and was later discovered dead on a trail. “I’m sure I’m forgetting something”, she told Ellen DeGeneres in 2013.
She has not returned to social media to talk about her dog, but she did post congratulations on Instagram to Alejandro Gonzalez Iñarritu, the Mexican film director who won his second Oscar Sunday night, for The Revenant, becoming the first director to win-back-to-back directing Oscars in more than half a century.
