Neil Magny Vs. Kelvin Gastelum Fight
For UFC PPV, there is a live stream of the channel which can be accessed here (different regions might access different sites), and through that, fans can watch UFC Fight Night Live Stream: Neil Magny Vs. Kelvin Gastelum online.
Pat: While there’s many people who don’t think Formiga has a shot against his Olympian opponent, I think this fight is much more even and intriguing than it initially appears. While Cejudo’s overall MMA game is still kind of a work in progress I think he’ll be able to strike enough with Formiga to get his wrestling game going and take a decision.
The final scorecards were unanimously 30-27 for Lamas, who returned to the win column after being denied a title shot with a first-round TKO loss to Chad Mendes in April.
Listen, if you think I’m picking against Diego Sanchez you’re crazier than he is.
Robert Winfree: I have no idea what compelled Diego Sanchez to try his hand and featherweight, but this is a bad idea. Sanchez drops to 14-8 in UFC with the loss. ‘I see myself beating Magny in the first round by submission.
Note: A pair of veterans face off in the fight with the closest line of the evening, as Escudero (24-9) meets Leandro Silva (18-3-1) in a match where both men are trying to protect three fight winning streaks.
For Magny, it’s his second short-notice fight in a row. Kelvin Gastelum is a problem with so much potential, but he’s a thick dude who has trouble making 170 pounds. However, if it’s that hard for him to make weight, maybe he shouldn’t be fighting at welterweight. Sure, it’s his third tour of duty with the promotion and he’s never really developed too much since winning TUF (over “The Next Anderson Silva”, Phillipe Nover), but he’s looked solid of late. However, if Magny struggles again with the weight cut, that could work in Magny’s favor. Tonight, however, Gastelum looked to prove to the UFC and fight fans that he is a force at welterweight. When he’s on his game and making weight, Gastelum is one of the absolute best in his division with all the talent in the world, capable of making a serious run at the title. His most recent failure saw him come into the cage an abysmal 10 pounds heavier than opponent Tyron Woodley, who nonetheless used superior stamina and counter punching to outpoint Gastelum.
Magny knows all of this, or at least he should.
“He’s always been a good wrestler, he’s always had a good heart”, Magny said about Gastelum. Magny will keep this close for a few rounds, but Gastelum will take over in the late rounds for a late submission win.
“That’s the way it is with every opponent – the longer the fight goes, the better it is for me”, Magny said.
