Netflix confirms Gilmore Girls returning with original cast
Back in October, we reported that Netflix is reviving yet another beloved TV series, with The CW’s iconic show Gilmore Girls returning for a new event series. Amy Sherman-Palladino and her husband Daniel will be returning to write and direct the show’s four-part return.
All the original cast are set to return, including Alexis Bledel as Rory Gilmore, plus regular cast members Scott Patterson, Kelly Bishop, Sean Gunn and Keiko Agena.
Talk has been swirling for months that Gilmore Girls would be returning to television as a short-form Netflix series.
It’s incredible in many ways to think about everything that the show’s cast has been up to since at least the midway point of its run.
Graham tweeted the news Friday evening with a photo of her smiling while holding a jacket that Graham “stole” from the show’s costume department.
According to DEADLINE, the series will be four, 90-minute movies, with each episode being treated like a new season.
We learned a lot of things from the many characters of ” a href=”http://www.moviefone.com/tv/gilmore-girls/70967/main” Gilmore Girls /a ,” but especially from Stars Hollow’s resident brainiac Rory Gilmore ( a href=”http://www.moviefone.com/celebrity/alexis-bledel/2069843/main” Alexis Bledel /a ). Warner Bros. television president and chief content officer Peter Roth however told TV line that getting Sherman-Palladino back is a good decision for providing the much needed closure to the series. In an exclusive video by People, Graham gushed over her award, which she refers to as her favorite since she has done absolutely nothing to deserve it. “We haven’t even started shooting and I haven’t even seen any of the scripts”. As a treat, they’re making the season 4 episodes long: one for each season in the year.
TVLine reports the four-part series is set to begin filming as soon as the first week of February. “That’s very important…If it ever happened, I promise you we’d do it correctly…It would have to be the right everything – the right format, the right timing, the right way”.
