Netflix confirms it is bringing back hit TV series ‘Gilmore Girls’
They announced the return with an adorable Instagram reading, “From Stars Hollow to Hartford to New Haven to Netflix”.
The original show, which debuted in 2000, followed the relationship between Lorelai – a single mother – and her teenage daughter Rory in their day-to-day life in CT. That initial report revealed that the streaming service plans on bringing all of the original cast members back, and now several of the stars have been confirmed.
There’s no final word on the title or premiere date for the season, and Netflix hasn’t yet doled out confirmed details on number of episodes or where, exactly, this final season fits into the Gilmore Girlsiverse.
Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel and Kelly Bishop will all be returning as the titular Gilmore girls, Lorelai, Rory and Emily. Tentatively titled “Gilmore Girls: Seasons”, it’ll take place in present day, a full eight years after the series finale broke our hearts and left us wanting more.
If Stars Hollow needs some new troubadours, you know who to call!” and “Yes!
Gilmore Girls creator/exec producer Amy Sherman-Palladino and her husband Daniel Palladino will be back to write and direct the four episodes together.
– Scott Patterson (Luke), Sean Gunn (Kirk) and the aforementioned Agena are also on board.
The Gilmore Girls are officially returning to the small screen.
This project will be produced by Dorothy Parker of Drank Here Productions in association with Warner Bros.
We’re expecting the revived episodes to be of a similar calibre to the original, as series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino will oversee the new programme.
Talking to TV Line, Graham said Netflix was the medium for the fans to enjoy the show once again. Graham also sent out a tweet to her fans following Netflix’s announcement on Friday confirming the revival.
