Netflix confirms reboot, reports reveal pilot episode’s title
Fellow “Gilmore Girls” fans, our prayers have been answered: After months of rumors, Netflix finally, officially confirmed that a revival of the beloved series is indeed coming to the streaming service.
All new episodes will be written and directed by “Gilmore Girls” creator and executive producer Amy Sherman-Palladino and executive producer Daniel Palladino. As a treat, they’re making the season 4 episodes long: one for each season in the year.
The popular show, which aired 150 episodes from 2000 to 2007, will see actors Scott Patterson, Kelly Bishop, Sean Gunn and Keiko Agena return as well.
The show left off with Rory graduating from Yale and departing Stars Hollow as part of then-Democratic-candidate Barack Obama’s press core.
Gilmore Girls is joining the list of past television shows to receive a revival or reboot and, in this case, it’s the former.
Gilmore Girls centred around the lives and loves of a headstrong single mother and her smart-mouthed teenage child.
This is extremely good news for fans who feel like they didn’t get the closure they needed when the series ended in their seventh season.
Netflix is yet to offer any additional information on the new episodes, their order or structure, but Variety obtained some tidbits of information from its sources.
The revival, whose exact title is still TBD, is produced by Dorothy Parker Drank Here Productions in association with Warner Bros. Filming starts Monday (February 1) but no premiere date has been set.
As for Ms. Graham, she seems even more excited about the show’s return than the fans, as her tweet suggests.
The all-new “Gilmore Girls” miniseries will include the original protagonists such as Lorelai, Rory, Emily, Luke and others, as well as some new characters.
