Netflix is updating its TV apps for the first time since 2013
The streaming video service has also dabbled in showing silent video teasers for featured shows on its main menu screen.
Netflix has released the first major update to TV applications since late 2013.
Netflix has always remained ahead of its time and over the years has amassed such an extensive library of videos consisting of TV and Cinema material alike at an incredibly affordable price. It’s nothing earth-shattering, but it will make watching Netflix on your TV slightly more convenient.
The Netflix TV app update should be rolled out to all users in less than a week, and while the company had a massive update to their own website last month, this isn’t quite as drastic.
The update won’t fundamentally change the app’s design, but it will cut down the number of clicks it takes you to start playing a video. Netflix says that this navigation upgrade lets “the content speak for itself by providing a more immersive and cinematic experience that best represents the capabilities and expectations of today’s TVs”.
Now when users select a title, the film or episode will start or resume playing in the background while displaying information to help confirm their choice. The Netflix app on the other hand remained bland and innovation less without even a single update until recently.
In any case, Netflix says it’s rolling out the update globally, and eligible connected TV devices should get it over the next few days.
