Nets Ink Luis Scola to One-Year Deal
Scola agreed to a one-year deal with the Nets on Tuesday, Adrian Wojnarowski of the Vertical reports. The veteran big man played last season in Toronto.
The Nets now have 11 players under contract.
Free agent forward Luis Scola is headed to Brooklyn.
For the Nets, his ability to come off the bench and provide a veteran presence and leadership while crashing the boards means he should secure a role with the team, however minimal.
In nine National Basketball Association seasons, including the 2015-16 season in Toronto, Scola has averaged 12.3 points and 6.8 rebounds.
The Blazers matched Brooklyn’s four-year, $75 million offer sheet to Allen Crabbe, and the Heat matched Brooklyn’s four-year, $50 million offer to Tyler Johnson.
The Nets have also signed power forward Trevor Booker, center Justin Hamilton, point guard Jeremy Lin and guard Greivis Vasquez in free agency this month. The roster is coming along and with the excitement of rookie Caris LeVert and hopefully a healthy Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, the Nets will have some depth to work under head coach Kenny Atkinson, who has a history of developing young talent. Brian Lewis of the New York Post confirmed the deal.
