Never-before seen pictures of Prince Charles, Princess Diana’s wedding released
The behind-the-scenes photos taken during the royal couple’s 1981 nuptials will be auctioned in the United States by RR Auctions with bidding to start on September 17. Until now, the photos were held by a British woman, who was an assistant to English photographer Lord Patrick Lichfield. The collection, due the following month to proceed underneath the sort in the USA, is along with a comprehensive notice of provenance determining the topics in each picture and providing further details in the helper to Lord Lichfield.
A series of three shows the Princessholding her five-year-old bridesmaid Clementine Hambro, cooing over her after she took a tumble en route. Another shot showed Diana checking out his wedding gown with a few assistants making sure that it was ideal. “This is still Diana, very young, not quite so savvy with cameras around her”, Nikkhah said. Prince Charles is also visible standing next to his mother, talking to a boy.
Behind the scenes… Princess Diana and Prince Charles. Another features Diana carrying a tiny bridesmaid. Looking out… Princess Diana and Prince Charles on the balcony. In 2013, one pre-marriage photo of Diana and a male friend sold for $18,000.
Diana was killed in a Paris auto crash on August. 31, 1997. Another candid snap depicts Queen Elizabeth watching the crowds on her own television.
These photos show Queen Elizabeth II, her new mother-in-law, walking beside her down a painting-lined corridor of the palace. “The colour photographs were printed by a trusted laboratory that did the Lichfield studio colour work”.
“These are the prints that didn’t make it into the books and they’ve never been seen before”, he said. The black and white ones were printed by me, in the dark room in Aubrey Walk, within hours of the wedding.
Lord Lichfield had directed the assistant to compile an album of photographs which was presented to the newly-weds to commemorate their wedding day.
And did you ever wonder whether the queen herself watched coverage of big events on a small TV? So rare in fact, that only one photographer was allowed to take photos at the reception. Their union spawned Will and Harry, not to mention a messy royal scandal, divorce, and impure thoughts about feminine hygiene products. It stated: “Admit Miss…to Buckingham Palace Side Entrance on Tuesday, 28th July at 2:00pm”.
