Never saw McCabe take notes, ‘Can we call them fake memos?’
US President Donald Trump called it “great day for democracy” that Attorney General Jeff Sessions fired Andrew McCabe, a prior deputy director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation disliked by DONALD TRUMP, only a couple of days prior to the planned retirement date. “Trump made me do it”. As many are now finding out, however, there was tremendous leaking, lying and corruption at the highest levels of the FBI, Justice & State.
McCabe appears to be suggesting that Comey was consulted before the alleged leak to the media on the Clinton investigation.
Schumer said in a statement Sunday morning: “The President is floating trial balloons about derailing the Mueller investigation”. The FBI director at the time was James Comey.
“In May, when Director Comey was sacked and I had my own interactions with the President, he brought up my wife every time I ever spoke to him”, McCabe told CNN.
“The Fake News is beside themselves that McCabe was caught, called out and fired”. But Trump misrepresented what was said on Sunday’s talk show – and misquoted the Senate hearing at which Comey testified.
Friday’s move by Sessions comes after FBI officials concluded McCabe should be fired for allegedly misleading internal investigators about his role two years ago in allowing an FBI spokesman and FBI attorney to disclose information about the agency’s Clinton Foundationinvestigation to a reporter. The pension was said to be worth about $1.8million.
“My offer of employment to Mr McCabe is a legitimate offer to work on election security”, Pocan said in a statement.
Joyce White Vance, a former US attorney tells me, “Even if McCabe’s firing is appropriate based on facts in the unreleased IG’s report, because of the President’s long running campaign against McCabe and Attorney General Sessions’ perceived vulnerability if he didn’t fall in step, it has the taint of political reprisal”.
‘But we do think that it is well-documented that he has had some very troubling behavior.
Sessions stepped aside from overseeing the investigation after the Justice Department acknowledged he had spoken twice with the Russian ambassador in 2016 and had failed to disclose the contacts during his Senate confirmation process.
Mr McCabe was sacked two days before his retirement date on Sunday. That Mueller has now issued a subpoena could indicate new developments, and none of them are good for Trump.

Those applications all cited the “dirty dossier” funded by Hillary Clinton’s campaign and complied by British ex-spy Christopher Steele. He abruptly left the deputy director position in January and went on leave.
Sessions didn’t meet with him personally, but McCabe sat down with senior attorneys in the department.
Host Maria Bartiromo noted that 10 people “at the top of the FBI and the Department of Justice” have been “either fired or reassigned” over the last several months as details about the Clinton investigation and the investigation into Russian Federation and Trump’s presidential campaign came to light. Trump has a history of using advisers to publicly test a message, giving him some distance from it.
“Spent very little time with Andrew McCabe, but he never took notes when he was with me”, Trump tweeted Sunday. McCabe’s statement on Friday raises questions about Comey’s testimony a year ago, even if it does not directly contradict it.
