Neville vs Akira : WWE Great Balls of Fire 2017 Results
Not to suggest Lesnar is Radiohead or Beyoncé to the remaining roster’s future main-event stalwarts. This year will mark the 30th anniversary of the annual PPV event.
So, let’s analyze the Superstars that benefitted the most from the events that occurred at WWE’s first-ever Great Balls of Fire PPV. All it took was one mistake, one perfectly and audaciously timed mistake, that saw Jeff pinned after a Swanton to ensure Sheamus and Cesaro won. With Aries gone, Neville is pretty much going to dominate even longer. I picture just flaming testicles now when I hear that.
Iron Man Tag Team Championship Match – Cesaro and Sheamus (c) vs.
The Miz faces Dean Ambrose for the Intercontinental Championship, Neville and Akira Tozawa for the Cruiserweight belt, and Enzo Amore does battle with Big Cass. Not to mention their characters have not changed and they’ve all had generic singles matches.
Miz to retain with help from Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas and hopefully he and Ambrose can both go on to better things. Names such as Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins would not do much to up his stock.
“What I do know is it’s still Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns for SummerSlam”, Meltzer said. Cass essentially squashed his former tag team partner, needing just a few minutes to get the pinfall. This match is sure to last only 2 minutes tops. WWE CEO Vince McMahon found it amusing. The same can not be said about Bray Wyatt who is a glorified jobber.
As far as a victor, I’m going with the champions to retain.
Whether that trickle-down pretense holds water or not, there’s no denying what we witnessed at Great Balls of Fire. Sasha Banks has been coasting lately and I feel she needs to be a heel soon.
All the ingredients were there last night for a rare double turn.
What we learned: This was so good, and is clearly building to a more high-profile, and maybe more risky, encounter between the two at SummerSlam.
Sunday, The Big Dog and The Monster Among Men brought the latest chapter of their intense rivalry to a head in a brutal and violent Ambulance match Sunday night. Really, the intercontinental title belongs to both of them, and it warms the heart to see that even their current spat can’t keep these two from working towards their greater goal of making everyone in the world hate them.
You can check out our predictions for the event here. Braun Strowman is real, he’s strong, and he’s my friend.
Ever since Lesnar was squashed a few times by 50-year-old retiree Goldberg last November, attempts to legitimise the former UFC Champion’s dominance of WWE have been wisely avoided – the likes of Joe have been able to get their licks in, so to speak, and I can’t help but think it makes for a better show to know that there are viable contenders for his crown.
While I think a trip to Suplex City is always a possibility for a match involving Lesnar, I don’t think that will quite be the case this time around. But for six minutes, this was a good fight that should hopefully lead to future matches.
