New Apple TV To Run iOS 9
It was previously believed that Apple would lift the lid on its new TV hardware and software at June’s WWDC event, but after the announcement failed to come, it was reported that the company was having difficulty hammering out deals with content providers. However, that didn’t happen, and no one seemed to know why it was a no-show.
This was revealed in an article by Mark Gurman on 9 to 5 Mac who went on revealing a number of features of the upcoming update to next-gen Apple TV.
Even though it feels like iOS 8 has barely made it on the market, Apple Inc.is only a month away of releasing the next operating system. The device, introduced in 2007, is expected to receive a wide range of improvements, marking the first major design changes to the product since 2013.
The fourth generation Apple TV could feature a touch-pad remote, extra inbuilt storage and Siri voice control for browsing and selecting programs and films to watch, in light of a recent patent filing. It adds, “We are told that Apple’s focus on Apple TV App Store apps has been video-centric applications, which would allow media companies to release new channels on the Apple TV on their own schedule, and not on Apple’s”. This would allow the new operating system to not only shine on iPhones and iPads, but on TV screens as well. It will consist of a version of iOS 9 that’s been optimized for TV viewing with Proactive search, the latter of which is one of the main reasons why Apple TV’s software will be based on iOS 9.
Apple is also bringing third party app support to Apple TV, and will have a new dual-core variant of the iPhone 6’s A8 chip.
Apple bears are still locked down in pessimism after the stock entered correction mode over the last couple of weeks. The device would have a larger remote control with tactile keys along with support for gesture based and touch inputs. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will launch the rumored internet TV this year as talks with TV networks continue to stall over pricing. By making all devices run iOS (apart from Mac) it streamlines the amount of work developers need to optimize applications, similar to Google’s goal with Android Auto and TV. The remote will also support both Bluetooth and infrared while also supporting a form of audio technology that is inbuilt.
