New blast reported in Bangkok
“There have been minor bombs or just noise, but this time they aim for innocent lives”.
Worapong Boonthawee said the device was thrown from the Saphan Taksin Bridge and blew up at Sathorn Pier after falling into the Chao Phraya River below.
The man, wearing a yellow t-shirt, who police are now searching for.
Travel advice issued by the British Foreign Office said: “Local police have confirmed a bomb explosion at 7pm on 17 August 2015 at the Ratchprasong intersection next to the Erawan Shrine in central Bangkok”.

Thai Junta leader Prayut Chan-O-Cha described the bombing as the “worst ever attack” on Thailand, as he gave the first indications of who officials believed were responsible.
Without elaborating, the prime minister said, “Today we have seen the closed-circuit footage, we saw some suspects, but it wasn’t clear. We are looking for this guy”, Prayut said.
Police are at the scene and have sealed off the area. The Hong Kong government said two of its residents died, and it is not known whether China included those fatalities in its total. It’s also a major touriststop, especially for Chinese tour groups.
